Carlos Ahumada Kurtz, an Argentine-Mexican businessman, has been a central figure in Mexican politics for over two decades. He first gained notoriety in 2004 when videotapes of him bribing top Mexican officials were released to the public.
A History of Controversy
The videos sparked a major political scandal, leading to the impeachment of Mexico City's mayor and the resignation of several other high-ranking officials. Ahumada was subsequently arrested and extradited from Argentina to Mexico in 2007.
