Tottenham Hotspur beat Aston Villa 4-0 in the Premier League at Villa Park on Saturday, with Heung-Min Son scoring a hat-trick. Timo Werner had opened the scoring for Spurs in the first half, with Son adding two more before half-time. The South Korean completed his treble in the second half to seal a comfortable win for the visitors.
The result leaves Tottenham three points clear of Manchester United in fourth place, while Aston Villa remain 11th.
Tottenham started the game brightly and took the lead in the 17th minute. Werner was played through on goal by Son and the German striker finished calmly past Emiliano Martinez.
Spurs doubled their lead just six minutes later. Son picked up the ball on the left wing and cut inside before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Villa had a chance to get back into the game just before half-time, but Ollie Watkins headed over from close range.
Son made it 3-0 to Spurs in the 55th minute. He received a pass from Werner on the edge of the box and curled a shot into the top corner.
The South Korean completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute. He was played through on goal by Lucas Moura and finished confidently past Martinez.
The win was a welcome boost for Tottenham, who had lost their previous two Premier League games. It also gives them a three-point cushion over Manchester United in fourth place.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, remain in 11th place. They have now lost their last two Premier League games and will be looking to bounce back when they face Manchester United next weekend.
